There’s something quite fitting about an ocean photography exhibition sitting beneath a ship.
Right now in Bristol, the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition has taken over the Dry Dock at Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Tucked just below the “glass sea” where the ship rests. It’s one of those experiences that feels immersive before you’ve even seen a single image.
Inside, you’ll find 116 photographs selected from over 15,000 submissions worldwide. They’re not just nice pictures of the sea. They’re the kind of images that stop you midstep. Microscopic creatures that don’t look real. Vast, cinematic seascapes. Moments that feel both peaceful and slightly otherworldly at the same time.
It’s a reminder of how much of the planet exists just out of sight and how powerful it can be when it’s brought into view.
We’ve loved seeing this one come to life across the city. Having provided flyer distribution and outdoor advertising. You might spot it in passing, then find yourself beneath a ship a few days later, surrounded by oceans.
It’s on until 28 June, included with general admission.
